ROLE GAMES : simulation of events that happen at a certain time and place. The action of the players represent free improvisation within the chosen rules and also determine the nature of the game and its outcome. According to the way of interaction, there are different types of games: verbal, live and computer games.
Role-playing are business games, military games (war games), pedagogical games, sexual games, etc.
MISS JULIA – a play by August Strindberg

JOHN THE BAPTIST – a forerunner of Jesus Christ who, according to Gospel, foretold the coming of the Messiah (Christ). A hermit in the dessert preaching and performing the ritual of holy water washing (baptism), immersing the Jews in the waters of the Jordan River for purification from sins and repentance, later transformed into the Christian sacrament of Holy Baptism. On June 24 the Church (both Catholic and Orthodox) celebrates the Nativity of St. John of God and on August 29 the Beheading of St. John the Baptist and the Forerunner. In folklore traditions the Nativity of St. John the Baptist merges with the rituals of the summer solstice.

SALOME – a play by English playwright Oscar Wilde, written in French in 1891, three years after Strindberg’s Miss Julie. The tragedy tells the story of Princess Salome, who falls in love with the prophet John (i.e. the biblical John the Baptist). After failing to get reciprocation from him, Salome demands the prophet’s death and his head on a silver platter. Getting what she wants, she kisses the head on the lips and dies. Wilde’s play was censored and banned for many years at the request of the religious authorities.

SYMBOL – an image with figurative meaning, implying the unity of form and coherence, a social and cultural sign fixed by tradition, conveying certain information. Symbolism plays an important role in dramaturgy. For example, in the play Salome, the moon is very important – a symbol of irresistible and irrational desires. In the play Miss Julia the most important symbols are the father’s boots, reminding us of Jean’s subordinate position, and Julie the bird, whose terrible death turns out to be a harbinger of the heroine’s death in the play.

VIOLENCE is the international use of physical force or power, real or threatened, directed against oneself, another person or a group of people. Violence can result in body injury or death as well as psychological trauma. Contemporary art explores the theme of violence closely and carefully as one of the major problems of contemporary society. The theme of violence is approached from different angels in some of the best works of cinema, such as Michael Haneke’s The Pianist, Gaspar Noe’s Irreversible and Jonathan Glaser’s Zone of Interest.

 

MONEY is one of the main themes in world dramaturgy. Property, as well as class differences, are the main drivers in the plots of some of the most famous plays, especially in the era of the development of capitalism. The play Miss Julia, along with Shakespeare’ s The Merchant of Venice, Ostrovsky’ s Mad money, Brecht’s The Threepenny Opera and Ibsen’s Doll’s House are among the most prominent examples of this.
